Corn Fritters

1 C. Flour
1 T. Shortening
1 t. Baking Powder
1 12 oz. Can Corn, drained
1/2 t. Salt
1 t. Sugar
1 Egg
1/3 C. Milk

Add shortening to oil in fryer. Mix all ingredients and drop by the spoonful into fryer. Fry until golden brown and serve with maple syrup.

I remember eating these in the living room and watching TV with my mom. Some places have corn nuggets, which are still tasty, but it’s just not the same as what my mom used to make. Plus, restaurants don’t serve them with syrup. They aren’t “in the know.”
