Ham and Bean Soup

1 1/2 C. Chopped Ham
2 cans Great  Northern Beans, drained and rinsed
1 can Diced Tomatoes
1 small onion, chopped
1 T. Butter
2 C. Water
1 Bay Leaf
Cayenne to taste
Garlic Powder to taste
Salt
Pepper

Mash half of the beans. Cook onion in butter until soft. Add all other ingredients, heat to boiling, and let simmer until cooked through. Best served with cornbread.
