“Every Indian Dish Ever”

This recipe actually comes from a humorous Buzzfeed video called “Every Indian Dish Ever”. I’m putting the base recipe here, and then my changes/additions below.

Heat 2 T. any oil

Add:
1 t. Cumin or Mustard seeds
1 T. Garlic Ginger paste
1 diced onion
Cook until onions are browned.

Add:
1 chopped tomato
1 t. Cumin powder
1 t. Turmeric
1 t. Chili powder
1 t. Coriander powder
1 t. Garam Masala
Salt to taste

Add whatever you want at this point – veggies or meat

My changes:

The first time I made this recipe, I made the following changes:
I used 1 T. Garlic paste and 1 T. Ginger paste (Walmart had each of them separately so I just bought them both)

I browned 3 Chicken thighs, cut into approx. 1 inch cubes, in the oil before adding anything else, then set aside and added at the very end to finish cooking.

I added a little bit of heavy cream (probably less than ¼ C) before adding chicken back in to make it more “saucy” and this turned out great.

I also added some cayenne after it was served (Zoe doesn’t do spicy).

The second time I made this recipe, I made the following changes:
I omitted to the Cumin powder (kept the cumin seeds though). Instead, I added 1 t. Tandoori powder. I also added 1 t. Curry powder, and ¼ t. Cayenne. Same chicken, more cream. I liked this combo better.
