Grandma Letty
1 C. White Sugar
1/2 C. Brown Sugar
3/4 C. Shortening
2 Eggs
1 t. Vanilla
2 1/2 C. Flour
1 t. Salt
1 t. Baking Soda
1 C. Gumdrops (cut)
1/2 C. Nuts (optional)
Cream the sugar and shortening in one bowl. Add the vanilla, then add the eggs one at a time. Mix the dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in thirds. Fold in the gumdrops and nuts.
Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
My grandma used to make these for me and they are my absolute favorite cookies in the whole world. Also, no one ever seems to have heard of them.
